CoLABOR participates in the 9th Annual Political Economy Meeting with a panel on climate, employment, and (un)fair transitions

CoLABOR will be present at the 9th Annual Political Economy Meeting, which will take place in Porto between January 29 and 31, 2026, under the theme "Fundamental rights, well-being, and quality of life."

As part of this meeting, CoLABOR is organizing the panel discussion “Climate change, climate action policies, and employment: vulnerability of professions, inequalities, and (un)fair transitions,” which will take place on January 31, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto.

The panel is part of the Climatequality project, funded by PlanAPP, under the Science4Policy program (2nd edition). Researchers Frederico Cantante, Tânia Almeida, Franco Tomassoni, and Sara Nunes will present the results of their ongoing research, contributing to the debate on the vulnerability of the Portuguese economy and different territories in the face of the transition to a low-carbon economy, as well as its impacts on employment and social inequalities.

The 9th Annual Political Economy Meeting will be held at the Institute of Sociology of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and at the Católica Porto Business School of the Portuguese Catholic University, bringing together scientists and professionals from different disciplinary areas. The Meeting invites reflection on the evolution of fundamental rights and the realization of economic, social, cultural, and environmental rights, as well as on the forms of economic, social, cultural, and political intervention necessary to effectively promote well-being and quality of life.

This edition of the Meeting also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, approved in 1976, as a fundamental milestone in the enshrinement of rights, freedoms, and guarantees, as well as economic, social, and cultural rights and duties.

The Annual Political Economy Meeting, organized by the Portuguese Political Economy Association, is a privileged space for interdisciplinary debate, promoting the articulation between academic research and public debate, and contributing to the reinforcement of Political Economy as a plural and critical approach to contemporary challenges.
