CoLABOR is participating in an international project to combat gender-based and domestic violence in São Tomé and Príncipe
CoLABOR has begun its participation in the project “+IGUAL – Combating Gender-Based and Domestic Violence in São Tomé and Príncipe,” an initiative funded by the European Union and co-funded and managed by Camões, I.P., which aims to contribute to the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women and girls in São Tomé and Príncipe.
The +IGUAL project runs from 2023 to 2027 and focuses on strengthening support services for survivors of gender-based violence through networking, capacity building, and raising awareness of victims’ rights.
As part of this broader project, CoLABOR, an entity contracted by Camões, I.P., will be responsible, between April 2026 and March 2027, for developing an information management system in the area of gender-based and domestic violence in São Tomé and Príncipe.
The goal of this initiative is to create, adapt, or adopt a system that will strengthen the capacity of São Tomé and Príncipe institutions to collect, manage, and use information on gender-based violence, thereby contributing to more effective, coordinated, and sustainable responses.
The system will be developed in accordance with the principles of the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS), following a participatory and institutionally integrated approach.
CoLABOR is coordinating this part of the project through Frederico Cantante, with additional contributions from Catarina Mendes Cruz, Luís Vargas, and Tânia Almeida.
Through this initiative, CoLABOR reinforces its commitment to promoting equality and human rights, and to developing more effective strategies for preventing and combating gender-based and domestic violence.
