CoLABOR marks 7th anniversary with visit to Michel Giacometti Labor Museum
CoLABOR celebrated its 7th anniversary with an institutional visit to the Michel Giacometti Labor Museum in Setúbal, as a way of underlining its commitment to enhancing the memory of work and Portugal's social and economic heritage.
The visit was guided by the Educational Service of the Setúbal Museums Network, to whom special thanks are due, and provided an in-depth look at the permanent exhibition dedicated to the canning industry - a central sector in the city's economic and social history in the 20th century.
The exhibition route covers the operational chain of fish canning, enriched with first-person testimonies, and also includes the ethnographic collection assembled by Michel Giacometti, made up of agricultural implements, tools and objects from everyday rural and working life.
The visit also included a visit to the Mercearia Liberdade, a faithful recreation of the original space donated by the family of the former owners, providing a journey through the dynamics of local commerce and neighborhood relations from other times.
This initiative reinforces CoLABOR's role in promoting knowledge about work in Portugal, in dialogue with history, culture and society.
